The Queen Vic, Preston

Opening time at the Queen Vic starts with Hewigo High Efficiency

Fish and chip shops come in all shapes and sizes. Many have been ‘chippies’ for ages, others are in brand new buildings and some have been converted from other uses. The Queen Vic is named after the pub it used to be. No not that Queen Vic, this is one in Preston and owner Ibrahim Sanibal alongside his brother Noureddine has given this run-down building a new lease of life with a complete refurbishment.

At the heart of the transformation is a 3-pan Hewigo Advantage High Efficiency range with eye-level computerised control, display cabinets with Hewigo’s unique high light/low heat jacketed lamps, twin-pipe filtration, rounded edges to cabinet and counter and programmable multi-coloured LED lighting.

The front panel itself has been turned by Ibrahim into an impressive feature with a mosaic tile pattern forming the words Queen Vic. “It took quite a while to do but was well worth it for the effect it has which has been commented on by many of our customers.” Ibrahim, who is long experienced in the industry and also has two shops in nearby Longton and Chorley, is really impressed with the high efficiency performance of the new range. “We had not had a Hewigo before but they were recommended and we wanted a real change to something with all the modern features you expect from a leading range these days.” The shop is busy much of the time being close to the campus of the University of Central Lancashire. Ibrahim adds, “The range is extremely fast and we could be saving as much as 50% on our overall running costs.”

Phillip Purkiss, General Manager of Hewigo UK says, “Ibrahim and Noureddine are very experienced and ambitious operators and have made a considerable investment in both the building and equipment. This is being well rewarded.”
